A Spiral Downwards

Have you ever:

Reasoned to unreason?
Started to end?
Finished to begin?
Lived to die?

To perceive ones true intention,
And to discern such from
The maelstrom of thoughts processed
Everyday;
Is impossible.

To find meaning where meaning should be
And thus,
To lose oneself into the disarray
Called existence;
Such an easy yet impossible task,
Set before each of us,
As we consider,
The downward spiral.

You'd think it was simple:
Just do it,
Start,
Begin,
Initiate.

What?

To bring into motion the thoughts,
The higher cognitive processes,
The sentience that is humanity,
The creative efforts of consciousness,
To ascertain a better future.

True?

Doubtful,
All your thoughts
Provide a stepping stone
Downwards,
Into the spiral.

What really has humanity brought,
If not death?
All our higher thought,
Our powerful processes,
The essence of our being:
Has spewed
Inequality,
Lies,
Deceit,
Dominance.

And are we really better,
Than the lesser creatures
We disdain with less than effort?

I think not,
For with every thought,
We tread further,
Into that downward Spiral.
