The news on the grapevine
is the world is flat
and ‘love’ is just another brand
to stitch into our sleeves and shirts.
Precariously vicarious,
the wild idols
catch us in our drift of history,
writ large across our lives,
forced smiles and shiny eyes.

Do you misread your lines
from time to time,
or do you fake a pause
and blame the cause,
offhandedly,
on autocues?
