I’m Back. I I’m back I’m on track if I’m white or I’m black if I’m young or I’m old at least so I’ve been told Am I thin? Am I fat? Do I wear a black hat? Am I boy? Am I girl? Do I live In this world? II My mind’s on one track I’m a dried up news hack so I’m chewin’ the phone like a dog with a bone; with this indignation I feel deep inside me I’m chasin’ I’m pacin’ I’m breathin’ I’m seethin’ I’m feelin’ so low when I see the death toll, of so many children, it gets to my soul. When I see little infants too tiny to die I just cannot bear it now it’s makin’ me cry II I felt it inside when that old doctor died and I’m not advocatin’ that killin’ is tried as a solution to these dreadful problems; and besides it just doesn’t solve them. But there has to be, someone wiser than me who can tell those involved in this controversy (and they’ve gotta shout it from every house-top) the killing of babies has just gotta STOP. I’m dreamin’ I’m schemin’ I’m steamin’ I’m streamin’ I’m screamin’ out loud So that maybe they’ll see (if only somebody could give them the key): for every innocent infant that’s killed; for all of the innocent blood that’s been spilled society will be judged evil in the future there’ll be an upheaval. So before it’s too late let us try to create a society that is not full of this hate. Let’s realize that we are all killers indeed; if we ignore the facts we will only succeed in building a world that the future will see as Satanic and then it most surely will be too late to change it and the blame then will be fixed squarely on people like you and like me. |

A pattern of indignation at the suffering of children at the hands of adults emerges as I read more of your poems. The fact that you place this theme right beside religious themes is what I like most about your writing. Keep it up. Life's short. Think hard! |
