He walked out and it was back to being real I could never force myself to feel Inside it was Killing me Breaking me Eating me alive Until there was no substance left for fiction to feed off of No visible flesh for pain to tear away There was nothing left I never gave it my best Giving away the rest of me to someone not quite as dead as me Not for something new Just in hope of another view A different person I could never be A perspective that I'd kill to see In my reflection Pure catastrophe He walked out and it was back to being real Speaking words not meant to hear Inside it was Eating me Breaking me Keeping me alive The image was out of focus But through the cameras shattered lens I caught a glimpse The smallest glimpse Of what I knew would be the end Emily Shives 4-28-09 |
