A match is all it takes To set fire on the wick, It begins with nothing more Than a tiny, warm blue flick. Stronger – now a growing flame Traveling down with heat, Throwing light far and wide Beyond restricted reach. Burning solid paraffin Into a weeping stream, The fire’s glow intensifies- Swells with horrid screams. More than one can handle The build up of the pain, Try to choke the blaze, yet – With utter power, it still remains. Flame destroyed with sharpened teeth Curtains close this ugly show, Drops of blood dim the pain Until the next match is set aglow. ~~~~I had an awful night; no SIB for many months, had to write about it...get it out...I hope I'll feel a little better now... -P |

This is one of the most captivating poems I have ever read. I had to go back and read it a couple of times, because it drew me back to depths and times I had almost forgot/ blocked out. I fully understand the drive to write, and it seems to me that poetry is the only way to fully captivate what one feels at such a time. I hope you're feeling a touch better... if not more. Beauty can be found in all places, even within the darkness of the soul. |
