Enemy in disguise Mask around the eyes Enough of the propaganda Just read me my Miranda That's right, my rights And for them I will fight All day and all night Until the end You're just pretend The future's bleak Figurehead, you just speak But it doesn't matter It's all just chatter. Know who's in control. Just an actor playing a role. Selling the devil my soul. And for what? gold? Diamonds and rings You know, the finer things. But are they really? The thought is just silly Even though it's true Not money, but selfishness pursue Shows just how much evil one will do None of us are immune Emotions change like a monsoon Just like mines A game of the mind All controlled by my enemy Easily defeating me Even through the mirror The image is getting clearer The reflection of me Gave me an epiphany Through the eyes, I can see The soul of the enemy Through the reflection of me |

Welcome to the Dark forum! I've read some of your work before in Teen and CA. I see your critique message is NO, so just a quick comment to let you know I enjoyed reading your poem. The closing lines in your poem were haunting. "The reflection of me Gave me an epiphany Through the eyes, I can see The soul of the enemy Through the reflection of me" |

To change your critique message click “Member’s Area” at the top left of this page. That will take you to the Member’s Area page where you click “Change Profile”. About half way down that page you will see the Encourage Critique Yes or No buttons followed by a box where you can be a little more specific about what you’re seeking - for instance, gentle critic, help with meter, form...something along those lines. |
