Angelo is twelve years old. Felix buys him a pen-knife. It’s a modest blade, suitable for a twelve year old. Felix shows the kid how to keep it sharp. Felix shows him how to use the oil stone, how to use a leather strop. I mean, what’s the use of having a knife if you can’t cut with it. Felix always did have a knife fetish, now Angelo’s equipped. If he had a beard, he could shave with it. Bobby |

GREAT 'slice of life' write! [I have ALWAYS been a major aficionado of both knives and woodworking (hand) tools and the keen and proper sharpening/honing of said] applause for this 'penning'! |

Thanks Secondhanddreampoet, Hey, you too. I love to carve wood. I once carved my daughter a bed frame from cherry wood. I'm pleased you liked this write. Bobby [This message has been edited by Robert E. Jordan (08-20-2008 10:33 PM).] |

Bobby, I remember my first knife. It was a pen knife too, but very dull. I still have it tucked away. Alison |

Thanks dear Alison, I have carried a pen knife as long as I can remember. When I go places I can't carry one, I always feel a little naked. Love Bobby |

Dear Bobby, I think it is good to be able to handle well a knife, to have familiarity, it diminishes the risk of hurting ourselves or others. In my hometown in Switzerland there is one of the best high quality Swiss knife producers and people are always fascinated by the displayed masterpieces in the windows ... my son too. I am the exception. I have a "knife-phobia". Probably in some of my former incarnations (if they exist!?) I guess I was once killed with a knife ... Sorry for rambling ... your poem was very good. My granddaughter's husband has a very nice collection of knives that I add to when gift giving time comes around. I am glad Felix taught Angelo how to use the knife. I think kid's handle knives or guns better if the know something about them and their proper use. Ida |

Very cool. I think I was 14 when I got my first knife - a 3inch black schrade pocket knife. I loved it, and always carry a knife with me now. Which is pretty weird, I guess, since I'm a girl. Great poetry ~alyssa Hupomeno. |

Thanks dear Margherita, It's okay to have a knife phobia. In fact that's a good thing. I've accidentally cut myself on occasions. Bobby |

Thanks dear Alyssa, It's perfectly okay for a girl to carry a knife. Knives can come in handy. Love Bobby |
