The tears fall slowly Drop by drop Stinging my skin I don’t even care The wetness on my face Only serves to remind Gray skies loom above The thunder rolls in the distance Looking outside I press my fingertips against the window pane My heart feels so hollow Even as I try to scream out, I am silent I see a faint light in the distance Squinting…I try to get a better look As quickly as it appears, it’s gone Only blackness meets my gaze I’m a prisoner in my own world Unable to break free Why do I let you do this? I raise my fists in anger Despite the pain, I try to smile I only hang my head down in shame Catching a glimpse of myself I don’t even recognize the eyes looking back at me Once more…the tears fall down slowly Drop by drop Stinging my skin I’m too numb to care The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return. |

Amy, this is heartbreaking. it's also the best poem I've ever read from you. |
