I think some evil witch has cast a spell on me. Who is that old lady, in my mirror, looking back at me? Unless a handsome prince arrives here on the double, I have a dreadful feeling that I am in big trouble! Ida Werrett

haha Well... atleast take comfort in the fact that when you point at the one in the mirror...you are pointing away from yourself. ::smiles:: (((Ida)))

Giggles, Ida! I enjoyed it very much.
However, I, on the other hand, celebrate my age - and flaunt it in the face of youth and others too. I have never dyed or even colour-rinsed my hair and I absolutely delight in having grey hair. But then I am extremely blessed to have better health and more energy than anyone I know. I am sure it isn't easy to be 62½ if one doesn't have health and boundless energy.

Hi Owl, You are right of course. Just having a little fun. I am pretty lucky for the most part myself (I'm 64) except for the arthritis that seems to run in my family I'm pretty healthy. I guess I'm very lucky that I don't have gray hair yet and my dentist tells me I'm lucky to have my teeth as many of her patients, my age, don't. I don't know about boundless energy but I try to keep moving. Ida

I am sure that I don't know who she is, but I know who she isn't! Anyone who writes like you will never grow old. Nope, you are too beautiful - so, I suggest that you let that old lady in and give her cookies. Maybe she'll hang around and be fun - because she sure ain't you.

But actually, those wimmen whose faces don't move scare me more than my mirror does!
(I've got those forehead wrinkles...I call 'em "Huh?" lines!)

You are much more a part of that ageless voice in your head Ida. Throw the mirror a wink and a whistle the next time you go by and take that girl with you when you do your shopping. Who says sauciness has to fade away. Not us girls!
By the way... I love that voice, the one in your head!
hugs. from another who is on the other side of 60! Lynda

Ida, I am suprised at you for looking at yourself with those thoughts in mind, I think that you, with all your attributes should feel very pleased to have what you have. Think of all those poor folk who can't stand up and look in the mirror, The ones who are blind and those who are crippled and Ida, think of all your wonderful friends at PIP who love you, including me. Next time you look in the mirror, smile and you will see that wonderful person behind the wrinkles and you will feel happy. Love you.

As youngsters we see older people as well, old, and before we know it, we are there!! But the heart and soul doesn't change much over the years. Like the saying goes, beauty is only skin deep, the heart is forever young, and timeless in all it's beauty.

Dear Ida, I also have a mirror like yours but I've learnt not to look at it with my glasses on. Once the cover-up is on it's not too bad but I know I'm just kidding myself. Grey hair for me is o-u-t but it could just be that I like a nice natter and cup of coffee with the hairdresser who I've known for 26 years.
Thanks for the fun read!

Thank you all for your wonderful responces. This was just a little something for fun and Karen, I agree with you 100%, I'd rather look at the wrinkles any day than the plastic faces I see today. Some of the movie stars that wear once so beautiful now look like freaks. Ida

Ahh, dear Ida, you are so cute! No doubt our reflection changes ... but if you concentrate on your eyes, you will feel deep love for yourself and the rest will soften its grim contours. It works for me.
White hair can be very elegant if it is worn with nonchalance. As for me I am still dark blonde ... though I hate the procedure!
Love and hugs. Margherita

Thank you all for your nice comments on this poem. I always find it facinating to see which of my poems get the most hits. It is seldom the ones I consider the best. Ida

It is usually the ones that everyone can relate to.... me included. I have the forhead lines and the crows feet and I don't think I look a thing like I did when I was 20 but I recognize the resemblance of my grandmother's face in my mirror and consider what a beautiful face that is.
