The Winter Drive Stars graze black fields in muted browse. Herds move Across pastured space Pushed by matter, dark and driven In increment of measure So long we see them Still, Cud’ing the sky in witness To a hungry history, To the branded march of myth. Winter’s feeding range Will bring under fence and focus The seeds of new beginnings, A nebula of fledglings, Aggressive possibilities in these Voracious young, downing the mother’s milkyway Of elemental offerings. It is for the young To live so hot, so cold. No middling emotions to muddle Or befuddle the process. This burning stealth descending Upon time, and curving the pull Of mothering arms To draw into its bosom That which was and is to come Be as then in the past And bring under our hands and eyes, a knowledge to prepare the way. Stay with us time, And we will winter In luxuriant skies And those who hunger, The young and old, Those who thirst Will know the depth of our pledge And draw water from the wellspring of knowledge and feast at the harvest of the heavens. I'm afraid my poetry got lost in the dust of the bits and bytes of the new upload. Doing a search for 'Gaelynsgirl' will reveal all. with smiles... Thank you so much Eric, Ida... Astronomy and cosmology are a hobby, perhaps I should say a passion, but can one have too many of those??? Lynda I'm afraid my poetry got lost in the dust of the bits and bytes of the new upload. Doing a search for 'Gaelynsgirl' will reveal all. with smiles... Ly |

Loved this, especially the "herds" in the sky. Made stars seem so much friendlier. Perhaps you could ask a moderator to retrieve your poetry. I had one poem that disappeared and I asked Balladeer and it came back. - Owl |

Thanks Kin, The very first question that ignited my love of cosmology was, 'What turns a star on...How do they come into being???', and I've never looked back. It's an amazing place, this universe! They are working on the poetry problem, I believe. I'm glad they are retrievable even if only through a search. Hope all is well with you!
