If You Follow A Trail Of Tears

I smile as if nothing is wrong
Masking the hurting inside
I shall wear my happy face
The tears I could always hide

For too long my heart ached
Going way beyond despair
Most feelings are revealed
Underneath the smiles I wear

My smiles disguise the pain
The sorrow is felt internally
Although feeling shattered
Tears had been shed silently

Whilst smiling on the outside
The inside had fallen apart
If you follow a trail of tears
You will find my broken heart

I love the ending:

If you follow a trail of tears
You will find my broken heart

One of your most beautiful sad poems, dear Hope!

My New Year's advice: wrap the past in a nice memory veil and open your heart to experience life's gifts and love's gifts anew.

Love, dear Poetess.

Beautiful verses to set up the ending which I also love!

"If you follow a trail of tears
You will find my broken heart"

Those are two super lines!
