"Advent"

No light into my window shines
On this, a night long thought divine
Just shadows streaming slowly in
Imbuing heart and somber mind

No magic holds this night for me
No miracles, just apathy
And mem'ries buried long ago
Now rancid in their stagnancy

I gaze from out my window cold
And pray a bit of light takes hold
To fill my heavy heart with joy
Relieving me of sorrows old

Yet cold and lifeless are the stars
That mar the satin night like scars
And offer not a glint of hope
To ease these weary souls of ours

This was absolutely gorgeous.  I could feel the cold and visualize a person at a window...

Look once again! Every single star twinkles just for you, they say "please allow us to brighten your nights and to plant hope into your heart!".
Give that sorrow from the past some rest and open your eyes to the promising NOW.

You have the choice.

Well written melancholy, dear Arius.

Love and Light.

Thanks for all the comments you guys, I'm really glad you like the poem.  This time of year always gets me a little bit down, so sorry if this is a bit more somber than some of my other poetry.

Thanks again!
