. A green pine With twinkle lights Traditional ornaments In a living room with Creaking wooden floors They are not yet The years that boys Begin to think of girls Beyond certain stirrings For which as yet There are no words A pair of cats Mixed orange and white A green and yellow parakeet High above their prowls Even Pop just back From the midnight shift Can’t deny the Christmas In his heart An old oak Beside the curb Beyond a long And silent Fenced in yard Draped in snow . |

What a nice memory poem, and I think the years of those "Red Ryders" were still the best years of all. |
