Mom’s usually pretty sane, but not always. Every now and then, she’ll show her mean streak. Bones always did have bad ears, they were prone to infection. When he was in school, they would hurt so much, that they would sometimes make him cry. One afternoon, walking home from middle school, his ears were hurting. Mom drives along, honks her horn to gain Bones attention. Bones waves back, wants her to stop and take him home in her car. Mom just laughs at him, and drives on bye. Bones found that very disappointing. Bobby |

How does a kid get over something like that? Well, Bone's was no ordinary kid. He didn't have a mean bone in his body and he even made the low road seem like the high road. Linda |

Thanks dear Linda, Bones was actually a very tough kid. He could take that kind of abuse, and just move on. BTW, I was with Bones when this happened. It was sad. Love Bobby [This message has been edited by Robert E. Jordan (12-21-2008 06:59 PM).] |

This poem just makes me sit here and glower. Your poetry just cuts to the heart of the matter - and that is what makes it so wonderful to me. Alison |

I can relate to this somehow, as I know of the tremendous pain ear infection can cause. Poor Bones. My mother would have stopped no doubt, but she didn't have a car ... What I remember is that we were always meant to be tough and never to complain, even if there was pain ... but that could be a dangerous thing, especially with the hearing involved! Sad reality, well rendered, dear Bobby. Love, Margherita |

Thanks dear Margherita, Yes, it was very sad to see Bones treated like that, and very dangerous. Love Bobby |

Poor Bones makes me sad but also gives me courage knowing that if one is tough and lucky enough they can survive anything. |
