Where Is Our Christ This Christmas?
~Ruth Kephart~

Another Christmas time is here;
Another Yule-tide filled with cheer
And yet the missing piece is clear -
Where is our Christ this Christmas?

I’ve seen the elves and Santa Claus,
The decorations hung because,
But, yet, one thing that gives me pause -
Where is our Christ this Christmas?

The cashier at the grocery store
Says, “happy holidays,” - no more.
A fact I find hard to ignore -
Where is our Christ this Christmas?

The fruit stand out along road
Has “x-mas trees” by the truckload
Yet not one place is God’s name showed -
Where is our Christ at Christmas?

Where have we hid that wondrous star
That led the magi from afar,
Caspar, Melchior, Balthazar -
In search of Christ at Christmas.

Where have we lost the meaning found
By simple shepherds on the ground
Who heard a message - so profound -
The Christ is born this Christmas!

Two thousand years, have we forgot
The gift the Wiseman deftly sought;
The King to whom they treasures brought -
The Christ, our Christ, at Christmas.
.
.
.
.

Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas!

I am nothing special...and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me,this has always been enough.~N.S

Ruth...

He will be, and always in my prayers and wishes

for a beautiful Christmas, and the best of all New Years, to you and yours,

and all I know.

Love,

Effective form....great message....
Where is Christ this Christmas? He is where He is all the other days of the year... in the blue ocean, in the beautiful lily of the valley in spring, in the innocent faces of my grandsons, in the colorful butterfly that lights on my arm, in the harmonious voices of the children's choir,  in the tiny kittens that were born yesterday.  He is here, we just have to look harder than ever.

YoungAtHeart2,

What a beautiful response! I would love to read it in verse. That's a beautiful theme you've got there, I might give it a try too Mark

To one owl from another

I love your poem and all its responses.

I know exactly what you mean, and do agree with you, but, in one sense, perhaps it is good that Christ hasn't been commercialised.

Christ is everywhere and available for all who want Him, but He just doesn't intrude where He isn't wanted.  However, what you mean, I believe, is - where is He in the celebrations of man?  It is very sad that so many people leave him out of their Christmas celebrations and, indeed, their lives.  It is also ironic, because it is His birth that gave rise to that particular "holiday".

However, let us rejoice that there are also many for whom Christ is what Christmas - and indeed, life - is all about!

Wishing you and everyone a very happy Christ-filled Christmas,

From one owl to another

Yo dear Hoot_owl_rn,

Are you kidding or what?

Christ is alive and well this Christmas, and every other day.  Check out one of these Church places and you’ll find him.

What's this "our" stuff, Christ belongs to everyone.

It's nice to see you out and about again.

I gotta go get ready for Mass.

Love Bobby

I am visiting Nashville and it seems the new Christmas songs and patriotic songs are gone. Niece piece of verse ringing the heavens.

Ruth speaks the truth! Your blessed poem
is a beautifully scribed reminder for all Christians that Christmas is the celebration of Christ's birth.

Merry CHRISTmas!

I get your message, Ruth, and also mourn the loss. We are poorer for it.

One thing about going through some very bad this year... I got to see such goodness. So I know He's an honored resident in many hearts... even if it is hard to see past all the tinsel and flashing lights. *S*

Merry Christmas, dear lady... It sure is good to see you posting!

Christmas I'm afraid, is going to become illegal.....and, it's showing as our economy and the one nation under God is going down the tubes before our very eyes.

As long as there are people that still believe and write poetry like this poem remembering why this day is here and we are all here, than Christ will have places, not just hidden deep in our hearts.
