The Swan's Path Adrift on a crystal lake, Far from the maddening shore, At peace and calm with myself, Far from all that I were. This is the path that I chose, To walk and sail all alone, Away from the life I loved, Away from a world cold as stone. I had the close ties sharing their warmth, I had the crowd that beckoned me in, I had the wealth to buy all I needed, I had a choice of women all for my sin. I drifted through the days without control, Never taking the fall for my move, Passing the buck onto another lost soul, Destroying the evidence so they cannot prove Who really caused the downfall of the business, Who was to blame when it went south, Who caused them to go from rich to beggar, Who took the food from their mouth. While they all chanted my name with hate, I slipped the candy into my coffee, Energy surged then drained in a second, Ten minutes later I was free. They might find something where I fell, It is a time that I shall not see, I'll laugh on the wind as they curse out loud, Desperately hoping they'll one day find me. But to do so they have to look to the crystal lake, Go beyond the anger, malice and wrath, If they truly hope to find my lost soul, They need to take the swan's path. |

Interesting. I guess there's a long line of people who could have written this one these days. Ida |
