I love you more than I can show, It has been so since long ago; I’m scared that one day I should go Where your dear smile on me can’t glow. I know not how long I can stay For that is not for me to say; Those thoughts I’d love to keep at bay But there are times I feel dismay. Instead of penning billet-doux If happiness I could undo; Wherever life should take me to Those future tears I could then shoo. |

Thanks SEA and Steavenr. I believe you have welcomed me already, for sure I've commented on a few of your poems already - which entails that I do enjoy the read Yep, billet-doux is a nice soft phrase; "doux" is the French word for "soft" and "billet" is a small (intimate) piece of writing. The key to this poem is that I am an expat who has worked in several countries already. Have a marvelous day! Mark |
