Roses are Real

Have you ever chased a rainbow?

The moist air had clung to my skin
Uneven paths swallowed my feet
And when progress was made I saw
What I wanted was out of reach.

Even so the sun still shown down
And I could feel warmth in its stead.
The rain’s smell evaporated
And disappeared into the wind

I fell in love with the flower

I could feel their velvet petals,
The razor-sharp pierce of a thorn,
All proof enough it existed.

Proof I existed
Was the roses…

Wow!

What an incredibly powerful, mesmerizing, existential verse.

It has the texture of silk.
I absolutely loved it.

Yo dear Juli,

Nice rainbow poem.  This works very well.

It puts me in mind of a rainbow incident.  I'll do a poem about it.

Love Bobby

certainly another view, an excellent premise in an excellent write...love your last phrase:

"Proof I existed
Was the roses…"  ...so very existential

J-dizzle,

This was excellent, and struck a nerve with me.

Where did this come
from Juju?

It's not your usual . . .

Something is going on  . . .

This is very very good.

I would like to include this
in my Word file of Poems by Others
with your permission . . .

Under what name?

Again, very very good.

You do indeed belong with the beauty of roses my friend, I was looking for that treasure at the end of the rainbow with you in this, finding your words were the reward; then wakened by the thorns. Enjoyed this read Juju, and your way of expression. Thank you for sharing.
