The Grasping Despot - by The Vestibular Bard The future of humanity, Is fashioned by choices we make. We’re led by our own vanity; In short sighted life, we partake. Brainy primate, life’s latest attraction, An evolution of cunning need… Our bond with nature, now an abstraction, Seven billion, we’re soon to exceed. We eagerly fashion our own small fate, But till we revere the whole earth’s lot… Achievements of man could all dissipate, As the planet’s most grasping despot. Earth might recover if given a chance, Or we may milk her whole bounty dry… It’s the paradox of our circumstance, Our extinction will come by and by. |
