I see the silent soldier walking his post tonight,
His comrades sleeping behind him, depending on his sight.
And I wonder what he's thinking as he stares into the mist,
Waiting for the morning, to feel the new Sun's kiss.

Is he thinking of his wife and children far away?
Does he wonder if they'll be safe in his arms again some day?
Is he dreaming of her kiss, and the way their bodies meld?
Does he hope for one more chance to tell her how he's felt?

The silent soldier turns his head and I can see there in his eyes,
The hopes and dreams he holds dear and knows will never die.
The Sun approaches from behind, the promise of the coming day,
The silent soldier nods his head, then slowly fades away.

Somewhere silent soldiers guard their post thru hostile night,
Out in the mists and darkening of the failing light.
Sentries standing quietly while we sleep within their trust,
The silent soldiers dedicating their lives because they must.

God bless every one of you who stand your post tonight,
Who ask for nothing more than the respect that is your right.
You are the silent soldiers who hold us in your keep,
Who live in danger, without the ones you love, while we so soundly sleep.

God bless our brave men and women who stand in harms way.  You are the cream of the crop.  We owe you all so very much.  Please come home soon, safe and whole.

Thanks, Susan.  As a vet who has been there as a young man, I feel very deeply for our young men and women who have carried on this sacred trust.

I love your signature line.

Thanks, Scott.  I know you were there, too.  So, from the bottom of my heart; Thanks, Soldier.

I wipe the tears from my eyes long enough to say thank you... to those serving today... to those who've served.

Ya done good, Mike.

Long John, your words flow so effortlessly and they paint a picture in our minds like a true artist. You have a special talent.
Thank you for putting into words what so many of us hold in our hearts for these brave men and women.

Awesome to read you again.

and this?

"Somewhere silent soldiers guard their post thru hostile night,
Out in the mists and darkening of the failing light."

Unaccustomed to having someone keep watch, it reminded me of...me.

I know it ain't that same, but nobody will let me own an M-16.

And hey, it wasn't exactly a war zone, but I truly appreciated our National Guard, here in N.O.

Good Fellers.

I was sure I commented on this absolutely wonderful poem to honor those that give so much for us.  There has to be a place (maybe the Red Cross) where you can send this Mike, so it gets read by those that need to hear it the most?  Just a wonderful tribute to the service men and women we admire and respect so much all year.  This reminds me of an email I always keep Mike, here's a link for you and everyone to see. Lumpy Bed?

Happy Holidays, Love Mysteria
