Bones is sitting at home
watching T.V.,
while Mom and the new man
are raising hell.

All the kids on T.V.
are having fun.

They’re all eating well,
and getting nice Christmas gifts
from Santa Claus.

Bones never got
a birthday gift
or a Christmas gift
ever,
and he knows he’s not
eating well.

Bones lost hope
a long time ago,
about being a regular
American kid.

Bones is five years old.

Bobby

Yes, dear Bobby, those lucky children on tv used for example to advertise designer's clothes, make my heart go out to all the "non regular" children of this Earth, who, like Bones, don't have enough to eat and never receive a gift ... It's good that there are lucky children, it's their birthright, but we can't tolerate the enormous gap between those who have too much and those who have not enough. May humanity be able to change things!
Love,
Margherita

there is so much sadness in this...to think that someone could get like that in 5 short years...it hurts to read, harder to come to grips with the truth of it...

Thanks Steavenr,

For your kind concern, and words for Bones.  I'm afraid Bones grew up a little too fast.

Yeah, Bobby, TV could be pretty rough on the "have nots" of the world.

What a sad piece of writing but a powerful message.
I work with children this age and some of them grow up very fast but not by their choice.  Amazing how the smallest kind gesture is greatly appreciated by these kids. They take nothing for granted. As I listen and watch the ones who have everything whine and pout when they don't get what they want, my heart aches for the ones who have nothing.

So sad.  What makes it more sad is the tickle me elmo doll incident.  We are greedy creatures.

Thanks Yann,

Yes, you're right about Bones growing up early.  That sometimes happens here in the land of the free, and the home of the brave.

Thanks dear Juli,

I wasn't aware of something happening to Elmo.  I'm afraid that one slipped by my radar.
