When one is stricken,
as too often
is such this sorrow,
why is it not them
to gather marigolds
to lace across
the ivory shrine

to spread upon
the lifeless body
of one of their own

of a missing mother's
winged child

so in turn,
as I rummage
roadside forests
to lay my
wreath of love
upon him,

these flighted hearts
of theirs, become
the bird in mine

Oh, Michele!!

What an outstanding, poignant write! You have me in tears.

I stand right there besides you and mourn with you.

Love,
Margherita
