Beside
A steamer trunk
My parents
Somehow brought
From Europe

Wooden eaves
Among dusty
Spider webs

Watching colors—
Through a
Lambent window

The new world’s
Forth of July

Sounds like your attic is a whole lot more inviting than mine!

Lambent.....I had forgotten that word, and it's beautifully right for this....so I've got a literal gain, on top of the enjoyment.

cool write...I, too, had to look up 'lambent'...it is a perfect word choice for your imagery

love the last line and all the connotations it portrays
