Lumpy oatmeal makes me crazy!

0 posted 2008-12-02 01:53 AM

One of the cats
who owns me
is settled on the plush dog bed
in front of the hot

wood stove

He seems to realize
that he ain't in Seattle anymore
as the temperature outside

plunges to -35 below 0
and we both know
he ain't goin' no where

soon

I think he's been reading
"The Creation of Sam McGee"
while I am at work

Yeah, Cats are pretty smart, mine make me feel rather stupid sometimes but they're good company.

How true is that, the cat that owns you, loved that and have thought it many times of cats, we have one left and it is a shed cat, gets the mice etc. Our dogs own us, but it is something we let happen hey. Enjoyed the read Alison, I could not even imagine it being so cold, better you than me in those conditons. Keep warm and well my friend.

maybe when I relocate to Paris I will get a cat?     one day, dreams may come true!

I'm rambling !!   love this write Ali-girl xx

There are strange things done in the midnight sun
By the men who moil for gold
The Arctic trails have their secret tales
That would make your blood run cold;
The Northern Lights have seen queer sights,
But the queerest they ever did see
Was that night on the marge of Lake Lebarge
I cremated Sam McGee

I love this poem.  Ilearned it when I was very young.   Nice reference.

Stay warm, and away from the furnace.  WT.

I love the poem, Alison, but was worried about the title.  Wtbaker cleared that up though, (I think).

Alison - I can't imagine anyone, let alone a cat, living in those temperatures but I can imagine everyone enjoying your poem!  I did!

Ali.
Poor Kitty.  I have that book in here somewhere, at least last time I checked ... but maybe he got it from me when I crashed through the computer to be with you ... Hope that noise didn't scare him too bad, really, really, seriously truly etc, etc.
Maybe if you let him out to play for a few minutes---no, seconds--- He'll figure out why that might not be such a good idea and pay more attention to Ali, his mistress.
Sleep real good, Ali and be toasty warm ... and, ... and, ... take me with you.

Your poem is delightful! Your curled up dreamer reminds me of the many wonderful years I had with Cosette... she would ask for a fire even here in the deep south! *G*

Right now, as I am reading your intriguing and cute poem, my Zelda calls me with her most pleading voice to play ... and you know I can almost never resist her. But, she never understands that she has been for hours sleeping and almost embracing the radiator, while I have been working ... tired isn't a word she accepts, when she has that half  hour of wakefulness!

I enjoyed the scenery and I bet your cat is going nowhere with that temperature!

I send warm hugs, dear Alison.

Love,
Margherita

That is one smart cat you have there Alison
I think he would like you to go back to Seattle asap and who could blame him. My wife and I are both cat lovers and have kept and bred nearly all the oriental breeds
Through out our married life. Our Oriental cat Simba is ten years old, arrogant as you would never believe and when the front door bell goes he always hides and won't surface again until the visitors have gone. A strange thing happened this morning for when the nurse came, within five minutes Simba came in the door, walked up to the nurse and rubbed himself on her legs. Unbelievable, but then she told us that she was a cat lover too and that she showed her cats at cat shows. How did Simba know, I still can't believe it. Love to you Alison my dear.

I am sorry that I have been so remiss in replying to those who comment on my poetry.

-

Ida,

My three cats definitely agree with you about their intelligence!  They are not too patronizing with me.  But they do patronize at times.

Alison

-

Rick,

My three dogs want you to know that the cats merely think that they own me.  The dogs say that they rule!!!

Hugs to you,
Alison

-

RDB,

A French cat would be nice.  Would it be like a French Poodle all prancy?  The cold isn't too bad.  We all survive it, okay.

Love,
Ali

-

Hey D,

My Cats say to just keep on bein' a strange Stranger and you all will get along just fine.

-

Bobby,

I really like some of Robert Service's poetry.  I think my favorite is "The Spell of the Yukon"

xoxoxo
Alison

-

WT,

That is a great poem.  It's a bit over-recited here in the summer so it gets kind of old, but it's a good one.

Thank you,
Alison

-

Diana,

I love my kitties.

-

Helen,

We all say thank you.  My cats say that I have enough hot air to keep us all warm.

Alison

-

Thank you, vandana.

-

Balladeer,

That is my very favorite animation. I have had it stashed for years now.  Good taste, my friend.

Alison

-

Heya Jaime,

My kitties are inside kitties.  Even in the summer there are too many preditors out there.  They are my big babies.

-

Margherita,

Thank you for bringing your cat and stopping by.  May the sun shine on you both.

Love,
Alison

-

Lindsay,

That must be some nurse that you have.  If the cat likes her, you are in good hands.

Love,
Alison
