I think that I would rather be
a blind bat in a fly about
or a rat in a scuttle
than a woman in the know
of love’s invisibility.

How tangible and yet unseen
to common folk like you and me
for in the forays of a mind
it plays the game of hide and seek.

Love’s “on” and like a scuttling rat
it moves like lightening “a” to “b”
but blind, you see, just like a bat
it crash lands in a boiling pot
of man-made “mish-mash” stew.

And this stew absorbs the flavour
but too subtle for our taste
it slides down, down, the gullet
to settle finally
into our state of unawareness
where it battles its confinement
amongst life’s trivia.

But confined it is; it’s made to be
patient in the middle tier
and there it waits a thing unknown
for however long it takes
to be fully comprehended.

Love exists alone unused
until I upturn my perceptions
and know it’s not reliant on
a man-made “mish-mash” stew
that seeks to mix ingredients
in a way not intended.

Meat needs an onion, that is true,
but I can eat it plain, un-spiced,
and still be nourished inwardly!

Honey, your closing stanza is the kind of real meat and potatoes ~ down to the basics ~ way of expressing your thoughts that I love about your writing ~ and you! You get to the meat of the matter, so to speak! lol

"Meat needs an onion, that is true,
but I can eat it plain, un-spiced,
and still be nourished inwardly!"

It seems like yours and my thoughts are on the same topic. Now, if only that thought was real.

"Love exists alone unused"
