Bones and The Police Officer |

There’s trouble at the settlement house. It’s been broken into. Mr. Joe the supervisor calls the police. Bones goes to pay Mr. Joe his settlement house membership money. Instead of finding Mr. Joe at his desk, Bones finds a police officer sitting there. Bones is struck silent by the surprise. He just stands there staring at the police officer. “What’s the matter kid? You hate police officers, don’t you? That’s all right kid, I hate kids. Try and remember that, and keep your nose clean.” This author is sad to remember that Bones died without realizing that that police officer would have given his life to prevent the brutal murder of Bones. Thanks dear Juli and Kudanesh, It is sad that many Bones feel that way about Police Officers. We can only hope that in time they will change their minds. Many do change their minds, it just takes time, and maturity. Love Bobby |

Yes, it is sad that Bones had this perception of the police. The last stanza is heart-wrenching for several reasons. - Owl |

Thanks dear Owl, That perception is common in the hood, sometimes with good reason. Many grow out of it, as I did. Bones never got a chance to grow out of it. Bobby |

Wow, Bobby! This is one of your most touching poems. It is also a reminder to be more transparent in our relationships. It would avoid many misunderstandings. Great job. Love, Margherita |

Perhaps the Bones series could be made for TV? Well done Bobby. Hal |

Hood kids feel that way for a reason, sometimes. It's too bad bones didn't get to grow his way out of it. I'd like to meet bones, and buy him a beer. Some people fall in love and touch the sky, some people fall in love and find quicksand. |

Thanks Shortsleeves, For the kind words. All of my books should be made into TV series. I'm pleased the poem worked for you. Bobby |

Thanks Paul, You spoke the truth there. The police are not as perfect as they should be. I'm sure Bones would have loved to have a beer with you, and so would I. He was that kind of guy. Bobby |

I've read several of your poems about Bones... and while I can't say the ending surprised me, it saddened me and wrenched my heart. Well done! |
