it was unintentional like the storms
and the sand of small towns
that mark your bare feet sometimes
when you try to leave in your mind

we spoke of abandon and other things
like they were jewelry we both wore
for different reasons without reason
and you said it made you think things

perhaps the shuddering of the same pacific
touching our shoulders with whispers
or the other touching we didn't mention
but recognized as laughter on windows

and love words written in smile side saliva
