Bones turns four,
and he’s old enough
to go out on the street.

He goes over
to a Butch’s house.

Butch’s old man’s
over there.

Bones asks Butch—
“Who dat.”

Butch says
“Why dat’s my daddy,
you dumb or what?”

Bones goes home
and asks Mom
about daddies.

Mom tells him
not to worry about it.

Some people have them,
and some people don’t.

Bobby

Well actually anyone can be a daddy, but now a Father is another matter.   I liked this and hooray to all the single parents out there who do the job of both parents well.

That is indeed a delicate matter, dear Bobby and you write very effectfully of this situation.

We all have a daddy, but some for different reasons aren't there. Mine wasn't there because he died before I arrived and through all of my childhood and teenager time I dreamt of a daddy ... though single Moms surely are wonderful, like yours and mine, and we can't say we lack something, still we do  know and feel that someone is missing.

Love,
Margherita

Thanks dear Margherita,

I’m 72, going on 110, and I can’t say I ever missed having a daddy around.  My Grandfather filled that bill.  My daddy was a violent, and dangerous person.

Bobby,

Sometimes people are lucky not to have a Daddy.  Sounds like you did just fine without - and I think I would have too.  Perhaps Bones was better off just as things were.

Thanks dear Juli,

For reading and commenting.

Life is bitter sweet, and sometimes sour.
