The essence of a person stays
To linger in your mind of store
Remembering their touch and ways
And thoughts you had of so much more

The words you never came to say
When time was right and moment yours
The memories that you hold each day
Imbed to time and arduous chores

The face you cannot yet forget
The smile that makes your mind recall
Your now of face that cries regret
This person that does haunt us all

The conversation of tomorrow
Now too late, it never came
Those moments pass, one day the sorrow
And the whispers of their name

So now more open with my heart
And words run free that I do share
Before my friends and times depart
I’d like to let them know I care

So treat each day as if your last
Your friends as gifts that found your door
Remember moments end so fast
And chances sometimes come no more
