I thunder through a smashed world,
Crushed rocks, snow, gravel and ice,
Pushing myself to the limit,
Never stopping to think twice.

Swerving with the column in my hands,
I thrash at it harder and faster,
Kicking up dust of fallen earth,
Here on my own I am the master.

I stamp hard with my feet,
Adrenaline driving me forth,
His commanding words lead me,
This is all that I am worth.

Kicking out closer to the edge,
Staring Death in his naked eye,
Dancing closer to the end of it all,
Never fearing the time I might die.

There will always be blood on the track,
A mangled metal carcass flung into the bush,
The co-pilot and I daring to go beyond the limit,
This is what I live for, this intoxicating rush.

Speed is a killer for those who can't control it,
They aquaplane in a light shower of rain,
For those of us who race in dirt and forest
We thrive on blood, sweat, tears and pain.

But as I stand with my driver on the roof,
Two time champion of the off-road
Champagne spraying the wreath on my neck,
A feeling richer than polished gold.
