So let This old man Sit down It is more Than the years That make him tired Give him A place at the hearth Bring him food and drink Allow him to rest By a welcoming fire The air grows colder By the hour With little before And too much behind Bring him what solace In a cup of wine The compassionate gaze Of an autumn moon .
