Dance Of The Wind Fish When autumn trees sway with the breeze In graceful elegance Then just beyond on the little pond The wind fish come to dance As sky and sun become as one While fading in the west The wind fish spin on airy fin Upon the waters crest First fast then slow, the breeze will blow Leaving a rippling wake The wind fish play at end of day And ‘cross the surface break They play and dart as waters part While back and forth they go A gust of air will send them there Dancing with graceful flow My love and I sit there close by And watch as if in trance When the sun is low and breezes blow And the wind fish come to dance |

I've often walked by the city pond (we call it a lake- it takes up about 3 city blocks) and watched the ripples. When the sun is just right, they're silver on a dark blue water, and I've tried in my mind to find a metaphor or simile to describe it in a poem. And then, here you are! Perfect image. Superb writing, Steve. The "wind fish" description is first-rate and you are true to a difficult rhyme scheme. Nicely done.... |

Steve, I absolutely love the imagery, the rhythm and rhyme! ~ as well as the romantic aspect of this delightful poem. I can guarantee you, m'friend, I will think of this poem whenever I see the "wind fish" ripple effect of a breeze blowing over a pond! Warm hug and a broad smile! Linda |

I could visualize it, feel it, and breathe it in. The images were portrayed with excellence and I didn't miss the rhyme scheme either. Very well done. |
