VANNIE
24 December 2007

It’s a year today
since you left
forever

I haven’t known you
these last thirty-something years
and I can’t pretend
that we belonged together . . .
although . . .

but there was
so
much -
wasn’t there?
- sweet and sour -
and sour fades
but now there is only me
to relive the sweet.

I cherish our final goodbye.

- Owl

Yes, hanging onto the sweet memories is so much sweeter! The sour ones have the power to sour our present.

You are a wise owl with a generous, loving soul.

Linda

Thanks, Bobby, for the gentle words.

Thanks, Linda, for your kind thoughts.  Yes, the sweet is so much more comforting than the sour.

Wow, Karilea!  You sure get to the heart of things!  Thank you.

Gentle touch of love that leaves its sign through time.

There is a touching Diana quality to this one. Peaceful and reassuring; love prevails in the end always.

this is sad, but the memories overpower the sour.

This was about my late ex-husband.  We were married in December 1966 and divorced in 1974 and he married 8 years later and died at the end of December 2006.

Thank you Margherita for your gentle words.

Thank you Oklahoma Rose.  Yes it is sad, but there were good times.

Thank you Ceinwyn.  Yes, the sweet overpowers the sour in time.

Thank you Bill.  Yes, they do, don't they?

Diana,

Isn't it wonderful when the sweet lingers on the tip of our memories?  Sour always seems to just disappear - thank you for sharing this beautiful piece of writing.

Yes, Alison, it is wonderful when that happens - sometimes it is a long time in coming . . . but it is good when it happens . . .

I agree, Memories are always good to have and some, not so much! ~ But the better ones are the most interesting and loved are the best to keep in your treasure box of memories

Arctic Wind, you are very right about what memories to keep in one's treasure box.

Kushal, your understanding of people is amazing and so very comforting.  Thank you.
