She Wanted me to Talk ... |

When she took us out for dinner, She wanted me to talk about my poem. but I would not, because she appeared to be prompting me to talk about it "What was the title of it again?" and I didn't want to do that and had nothing more to say about it anyway. It was a kind of mild inflation, inviting me to talk, which I guessed she presumed I needed to do, and start elaborating on the poem. But I did not want to talk and would not be drawn out about it. Besides, she had the path to the Piptalk page anyway and needed nothing more from me. It was enough that the group liked it. There was only one thing I made clear: I did NOT wish to eat Japanese food. I had a bad experience at that restaurant. We had to sit on the floor and my knees won't let me do that anymore; There were just too many unfamiliar dishes; too much clumsy awkwardness; and I don't know how to handle chopsticks. I decided I just wasn't hungry, but it was just Japanese culture shock, too much of it too fast, with no time to absorb it first. We went to a middle eastern place instead, and though I didn't know the names of the foods, whatever it was they gave me was good. |

Dear Jaime, I enjoyed this page of your life very much. I understand that we are not always in the mood of doing the things others want us to do. But still it is nice to stay together. Love, Margherita |

Jaime, Don't you hate it when people pressure you? Nothing can make me run faster! I like this one and feel your frustration - and I love Middle Eastern food. Alison |

*smile* This is such an endearing write, Jaime! (I can't imagine the logistics of trying to eat with chopsticks, even being able to see the intended target? I'm a mess at that too.) So sympathetic hugs on that, and yep, I am a fan of hummus as well. It's been too long since I've read you! I hope you are doing well. (and grinning--I HAD to talk about the poem, um, it's a poetry forum.) Hugs, and winks, you! |

Hi, Jaime! At least the food was good even if the conversation wasn't! Hmm! Now you have me in the mood for eating some Eastern food ~ calamari, dolmades, hummus, Greek salad ~ and I don't feel like talking! ~ Just eating! lol Warm hug of understanding, Linda |

Oops. It took me several attempts and several spilled food episodes to learn to handle chopsticks gracefully, let alone how to hold food between those tiny wood-tips. And you can forget about sitting on the floor! My knees and hips lock up and refuse to go where they should in order to stand up without holding onto a table or chair. As for ME foods, I still love baba ganoush, hummus and falafels. Beware of those belly dancers though. (GRIN) |
