You tell me that you love me That your love is deep and true But then you slit your wrists And say that “it’s because of you” If you wanted me to smile Why do you pull me down? I wanted to fly for miles You pulled me to the ground You say that you will be content With friendship and compassion Then try to steal my heart from me Are these not selfish actions? You offer me your suffering I will guide you through But only if you’re worth trusting ‘This heart you can’t abuse’ You tell me that you trust me With everything you’ve got But still you won’t let dead dogs lie If this is love, what’s not? I haven’t seen you for two years But you just can’t let go You felt nothing when I was near You yourself said so You only love this distant thought Not me you think you know Beneath the surface it was wrought This hurts, please let me go This is not something you can claim Like capturing a dove I’ll give compassion for your pain But won’t return your selfish love I was the first to give an inch So you took the whole nine yards Told me of all you’re suffering And laid out all your cards It cannot be love that you’ve shown You just want happiness Though it might cost me my own Friends? No more and maybe less |

Great clarity of thought here. Sharp mind, steel words. Impressive. |

my first impression was "ouch"...this write shows the hurts of the writer and the one written about...then, I was amazed by how you were able to express in an amazing set of words such a personal experience...nice...very nicely done |
