A friend of mine at the age of 15, wrote poetry as a way of dealing with her grief from her grandfather passing away. A few years ago she was taken from us in a fatal accident, on that night her family came home to discover this poem she wrote lying next to her bed. I had recently came back upon it and it still gives me some great insight in time so I thought it would share it with you. To Soar: I envy the birds, For with wings they take flight. Fly away father than any kite. On agile wings birds take to the sky. But not I. Not now or ever. I can only stay and gaze, At their freedom of flight, Their dance of the sky. But if I were, Where would I go? How far would I climb? What adventures would be mine? To distant mountains misty tops, or back yard swings. Would I dance and soar, Among orchads gleam, Of dew kissed berries And sunbathed grapes. And what if then, Would I envy the trees? For planted they would stay. Would I long for boundaries? And hope for that day? Would my dance be meaningless? And my song empty? I guess I'll stay and only gaze Ill keep my heart rooted deep and only let my soul take Flight Today. |
