I do not say I loved her best.
I say, I loved her differently.
The light of morning, glistening
upon the drool from her chin cried
for a vein of marbling
that I could only hope--revealed
by the staunch-stressed hammering
handled oh-so-carefully

blunt

but perfectly adept
releasing tears on cheeks not wept
and dimples of humanity
as her skin kept how she'd slept
dying
in her sleep--the clefts
are permanently memory.

I do not say I loved her best.
I say I loved her - reverent -
sanding stone to polished "blest"
an angel in reveal...

I love all of your poems. MAKE A BOOK.

Much like ThisDiamond I too, was thinking of the females in my family that I love.  And the treasured moments when I felt honored to just to watch them, and how the profound adoring of awed respect ignited that love in me.  I experienced these feelings just recently in two different situations concerning two of my aunts.  One I was nursing after she had shoulder replacement surgery, and the other aunt during a visit at the hospital the night before she underwent open heart surgery.

Thus this piece deeply touched me ...

I think you speak volumes in your not 'best' but 'differently' line...describes quite a few relationships...and, once again, enjoyed

She's fine, thank god/dess.

Love to all.
