Mom dresses
five-year-old Bones
in oversized dirty cloths,
and uses straight pins
to stick a deck
of playing cards
on his coat and pants.

He smears his face
with carbon-black,
and carries a pillow case
to hold the loot.

He’ll be out in the hood
for about three hours,
collecting candy
with his gang of ruffians,
they expect to hit it big,
fill their sacks with treats.

People in the hood
know better than
to pull a fast one,
pretend they’re
not at home.

Bones and his boys
have never found the need
to pull no dirty tricks.

Thanks Bill,

Yes, I'm sure things will come Bones way on Halloween night.

Thanks for the kind words and wishes.

TRACE2RYM,

Philadelphia streets are always safe for kids.  I have 180 candy bars ready to pass out tonight.

I just hope I have enough, and don't run out.

Love Bobby

Thanks Steavenr,

Would you believe it, people bring their kids in from the burbs to trick or treat in Bones neighborhood.  They always go home with a sackful of candy.

My mother always dressed me as a bum. It was pretty easy since I had all the clothes..

Thanks Balladeer,

Your Mom knew how to get it done.  It worked good, didn't it.  Dirty clothes are the secret weapon for Halloween.
