There’s mystery and deep intrigue
within the forest of a need
for from the roots an intertwine
of what was but is no more.

And from the trunk a branching out
into the ether of pure light
where mind is king and flesh the means
of what was but is no more.

From that there flutters in the breeze
the fragments of the whole “I am”
waving, calling, beckoning,
the what was but is no more.

So stands a tree or maybe me
in the forest of a need
but of a need from whence it comes
or where it’s going to
hidden in that deep intrigue
of what was but is no more.

What was but is no more
still stands as my foundation
but changes form, mutates and moves
as mystery decrees it must
to remain a mystery.

And so of the intertwine
of what was but is no more
it’s just a plait of history
wound around my head
to keep the what was in its place
and make the no more like a band
that suffocates the past.

"wound around my head

and make the no more like a band

Great lines here.  A thought filled write.  But to breathe and remember seems more appropriate than smothering the past.

Enjoyed.

Thanks, Janette.  It's not possible to completely forget the past but it is possible to put it in its place and ... move on to a hairstyle more befitting one's present lifestyle!

That certainly sets the stage for a most compelling poem.
You are such a deep thinker with so much heart and soul.

Hugs, honey~

AC, Steaven, Ida and Bluesy - Thank you so much!  Oh, and Bluesy, I guess I feel first and foremost and then have to write it to make sense of it.  Sometimes the fingers know what I don't.
