Devil's Glen Near the little town of Brynn is a place that people fear Dead Man’s Hollow is a place that no one will go near Brynn is a quiet little place where friendly people dwell One would never guess it sits upon the edge of Hell Just outside of town there is a lonely country lane Winding down through darkened woods where nature’s gone insane Trees there grow unnaturally, distorting people’s view Their gnarled branches seem to try and take a hold of you Through the hollow is a place that’s known as Devil’s Glen Where it's said you won’t return if you should venture in There is an old abandoned farm that sits back in those trees But no one has lived in the house for many centuries The legend says the farmer, while working with his slaves Unknowingly had plowed up several very ancient graves That evening as the farmer rested out upon his porch He thought he saw the flickering of a brightly glowing torch As he watched, the light began to move across the ground Accompanied by a very low and strange unearthly sound The glow approached the bunk house and his slaves began to yell Screams and wails like tortured souls within the pits of Hell The farmer grabbed his rifle and then quickly ran outside To find the light was gone and all the horrid sounds had died He rushed out to the bunk house and he opened up the door But there were only ashes lying there upon the floor Then as the farmer started back along the darkened trail He thought that he could faintly hear that strange unearthly wail Back upon his porch he gripped his gun and waited there The smell of burning brimstone seemed to fill the nighttime air No one really knows for sure what happened there that night They found the farmer on his porch, his hair had all turned white He could only babble bits and pieces of the tale Upon his death the little farm was then put up for sale But nothing could be grown there and the crops would all soon die Animals all shunned the glen and no one knew just why Those who tried to live there very quickly moved away Before too long the old farm house had fallen to decay But every now and then a visitor will come to Brynn To ask about the hollow and the place called Devil’s Glen The folks there try to warn them not to venture there at night Those of them who’ve tried it have received an awful fright The Devil’s Glen in darkness is a place no one should be But if you’d like to visit then just take a tip from me Don’t go at night if you should ever get the urge to follow The winding trail to Devil’s Glen that goes through Dead Man’s Hollow Happy Halloween!! |

you've captured eeriness well...fast read--perfect for a tale like this. I do have one question though--how's the phone reception in Devil's Glen? |
