This beast is lurking around,
The streets of the world,
Big wide streets, small town,
Miseries and sorrows he unfurled.

He spares no one,
From poor layman, the rich men,
You cannot escape, cannot run,
He doesn’t live in a den.

Sophisticated, modern and skilled,
He kills none using his jaws,
Yet he still kills till his thirst is fulfilled,
Not punished by any laws.

Now who is this beast?
Aren’t you eager to know?
On his prey how does he feast?
Please read below.

His stories in newspapers I read,
On news channels I see,
He causes stock markets to bleed,
Now a job there is no guarantee.

The eatables prices rocketing sky high,
Job cuts, people unable to pay remaining debts,
Another reason people found to die,
For these actions of his, he never regrets.

Real estate prices falling low,
Cost of living increasing day by day,
Investments are really slow,
In nightmares many live today.

How can we tame this beast?
How do we escape his claws?
Small savings each day at least,
Over spending was the cause.

Did you guess him right?
He is mans own, yes our own creation,
To this monster I dedicate this write,
He is none other than, our dear inflation

I'm afraid we're going to see more of that monster than we care to in the coming years.
Well written, Prasad.

Yo Prasad,

This is well done, with great end rhymes.  As far as the economy goes, there's always something going wrong.

Hi Musel, thank you for the welcome, please accept my welcome too. I am happy you liked the twist; I feel poetry should also be like modern art, give readers something to imagine.

Hi Bobby, I totally agree you economy is like the game of snake and ladder, the financial head roll the dice and the people are the pawns. Deflation, inflation and many others the snakes. Thank you for you kind words. Thank you so much. Prasad

I know that this may come as a surprise but inflation can actually be a good thing.  In Japan we have experience deflation for the last 15 to 20 years.  Without inflation the economy cannot grow.  So lets call inflation a misunderstood monster.
