Weary bones willingly
soak up today's amber warmth.
Flocks of birds swoop tree-to-tree
harvesting vibrant seeds and berries
that adorn multi-hued shrubs and trees.

But the changing sky does not lie,
nor do falling leaves,
scurrying critters.

Eschew obfuscation.

Winter is near,
but need not feel
ominous,
bleak nor dreary.
Welcome the chill
that enlivens
Gaia's glow
with the purity
of fresh snow.

This is breathtakingly beautiful and moves me almost to tears, just after the  strong desire for winter and snow I developed reading Alison's "Winter Celebration".

I will read this many times, dear Kacy, it holds perfect beauty.

I have those visions of the Winters I experienced in Switzerland and will always cherish them (in the hope to live them again one day).

Love and hugs.

Yo dear Kacy,

I'm hoping that you will take the snow off our hand here in the hood.

Winter is never good here.  Like I said on another post--winter is frozen fingers and ears.  It hurts.

The past few days, on driving home, I've watched the Hunter's Moon, rise full on the horizon, blood red in dying embers of Summer's heat. This evening, a flight of geese down from the North crossed its face, took up room upon the river, pausing for the night as they head South and I wondered when it would snow.  As the moon slipped through wispy clouds it seemed to whisper, "Not yet, not yet, but soon."

Certainly a fine and optimistic alternative to Chechov's winter!:

ominous,

Welcome the chill
that enlivens
Gaia's glow
with the purity
of fresh snow."

Grand 'reply/comment' post by Mr. 'Icebox' as well!

Midnitesun - After reading this I'm thinking perhaps the winter snow may not be so bad. Enjoyed the read...

"Eschew obfuscation"

I soaked up this read, your take on the changing of seasons.  And I was TOTALLY intrigued with your word usage.  How fun, you taught me a new word today.  I love it!
ob·fus·cate
1 a: darken b: to make obscure
2: confuse intransitive verb: to be evasive, unclear, or confusing

Brilliant!

Greatly enjoyed!

Lovely, usually I dread the ice and snow but I should approach it more lovingly and not be so bitter about it, lol no pun intended! Loved this
