gentlemen ladies those who wish well those who carry candles into this night lit with flames thought lost. what is the mind of a body in free fall - crutches kicked out will attempts be made to grasp again what just betrayed will there be clawing and cheating lying greed or is this the time to realise winged flight. things I've gathered during this wait I've called life especially those I would hold ten seconds before an eruption are my life. the face of the man with the bill will rise up out of the ash and cloud demanding his payment in denominations of fear and chaos shock and panic and shattered disbelief but on the way to the floor some open their eyes reach out see the world anew spot themselves in the mirror of the moon take heart some become birds. |

It is from the mud of despair, that hope can unfold, that the good can take wing, and that courage can reach forever upwards, exploring the blue, blue skies . . . the choice is ours. Lovely, especially the gently powerful last lines. - Owl |
