The Loneliest Tune

by Linda L. Dowd

Listless, lie I, in the soft lambent light
of a hot summer eve’s rising moon.
I ache with the longing to be held in your arms
as my heart croons the loneliest tune.

Gone are those times when joy filled our days
and splendour was ours through the nights,
I yearn for the closeness of our bodies and minds
and our climbs to new spiritual heights.

Westerly winds blew our blossoms of love
~ They lie scattered across landscapes and sea
Only fragments remain of our flowering romance
and the one left alone ~ is me...

Listless, lie I, in the soft lambent light
of a hot summer eve’s rising moon
I ache with the longing to be held in your arms
as my heart croons the loneliest tune.

~

Yes, I know the tune, I think summer does that to us,
then they say the holidays are a lonely time,
and before we know it it's a new year and hope springs anew.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
here's a song for ya~
And the seasons they go round and round,
  and the painted ponies go up and down.
We're captive on a carousel of time,
  we can't return we can only look behind from where we came,
and go round and round and round in the circle game.
Love ya Linda. and you too EA.
Smile sweetie~
"Gone are those times when joy filled our days
Sometimes, when those times disappear, it opens up space for times anew. Beautiful write.
And another lovely Linda write!  Sometimes we all play "the loneliest tune" but soon become more up-beat when it becomes boring.
Oh, sweet Linda Angelo Terrestre, you write sadness as beautifully as happiness. Touching and heartbreaking. But of course I know you have powerful divine resources to overcome this feeling of abandonment (if this is about you ...), so I relax and send big hugs.
and all my love
I am especially fond of:
effective 'Romanticism'!
Hi Linda,
Your poem makes me feel so lonely. I better go out get some fresh air; watch few people walking on the busy street.
See you later…bye… Prasad
Maga Margherita La Senorita Que Bonita ~
I was in a very sad mood when I wrote this poem. There was something in my day that triggered these emotions and past memories. Gosh, it's amazing how things we thought were buried deep can come bubbling up to the surface.
Sending all my love to you, as well!
