Yes
I have loved,
tasted at its fountain
pretending at unending joy,
yet I am alone;
love lost is poignant,
bitter
in pure crystalline beauty,
beyond that which I thought I could endure,
cold ambivalence
in depths of vacant stare,
casual blade of friendship lost
twisted there in offering
where I swim against tides set in time,
tides
that could at any moment
drag me down
to drown in soft regret.

Oh, that you didn't know
the reality of non-pretension....

but how real it might be
to so many!

Was reading through the archives today,
saw your name many times....

Dear Charly, I was intrigued at the title and I love to know that you have loved intensely enough to be able to speak in this captivating way of love.

May you love and be loved again, so that what was lost hurts no more, and that which will be will be the best love ever ...

Love,
Margherita

I am not sure what I think of the contents of this poem, and I have read it a few times,
but it has that mark of genius that all "icebox poems" have and that is enough for me.

As per usual, I would like to echo Margherita's comments! She speaks my mind better than I can!

As the old adage goes, "It is better to have love and lost, than to have never loved at all."
