Angelo and the Mysterious Bones |

After being hit by a car, Angelo ends up at Saint Agnes. He’s in a children’s ward. On one side he has another kid with a broken arm, the kid never stops talking. On the other side there’s a skinny kid, that just lays there, saying nothing at all. The talkative kid says they call the silent kid Bones. They say Bones is very sick, that’s all they know about him. No one ever visits Bones. When Sally comes to visit Angelo, she always says hello to Bones. It does no good, Bones just lies there, he doesn’t even move. One day the sisters draw the curtains around Bones. A doctor comes in to look at Bones. When the doctor comes from behind the curtain, he just shakes his head. A Priest is called. The Priest spends some time with Bones. In a little while, the sisters wheel Bones out on a cart. All Angelo can see is a lump where Bone’s head should be and another lump where his feet are. Angelo tells Sally all about it. Sally just shakes her head, and says: “That poor little kid, dieing all alone like that-- at least he’ll go straight to heaven. The Priest took care of that.” Bobby |

I would hope that things have improved since then and the child would be provided with some attention and services. Ida |

Thanks dear Ida, Bones was attended to by the Sisters and doctors in the hospital. It's just that he had no visitors from any family, or anyone else that cared about him. He was an orphan. The Catholic Hospitals in Philadelphia are noted for being great places to be sick in. My wife was born at Saint Agnes. Love Bobby |

Thanks dear Joyce, Yes, it was very sad for poor Bones. Of course the world's full of Bones. Angelo is really good that way. He's always been good at taking care of other people. Love Bobby [This message has been edited by Robert E. Jordan (07-16-2008 04:51 PM).] |

Sounds like Angelo has a big heart, and Bones had a perfected heart. It was time for him to go home. ·´~`·»Garapan«·´~`· |

Yo XGarapanX, Thanks for the kind words on this poem. Yes, Angelo is a very kind person, and I'm sure you are correct about "Bones". It was just time for him to go home, with his perfect heart. I like your post a lot. Bobby |

You conveyed such deep sadness in your very unique style, Bobby. Life is so full of sadness and no doubt it hurts more when children are involved. Experiences made in the hospital as a child are impressed forever. I know. Love, Margherita |

Thanks dear Margherita, You are correct. Life is full of both sadness and joy. You are also correct about hospital stays. Hopefully you can write about some of yours. Love Bobby |

That was a very sad heart touching Poem Bobby, it made me feel for Bones. It is so sad when someone passes away and have no loved one to be with them when they do. You wrote it well my friend. Lindsay |

I'm glad that in his last days Bones was at least at a hospital where someone was there to look after him. I'm sure, also he could feel the compassion that Angelo and Sally had for him, even if he was too sick and withdrawn to talk to them. Bobby, I love the way you write these story poems. Hugs, Ethel |

Thanks dear Ashe, Yes, Bones and Angelo would have gotten on very well. Angelo is modeled after my youngest son. Angelo is a very kind, and friendly person. Bobby |

Thanks dear Ethel, For the kind words on this poem. I'm glad you enjoy them. I was partially raised by my grandmother, whose name was Ethel. She was a good, but tough woman. Love Bobby |
