The Kyneton Writers Group meet here at our place
on the third Sunday of each month and we take it in turns to suggest a topic for the following meet.
The topic suggested last month was 'What If'

                 What If

What if I had my life to live over
I wonder if I’d do the same things again,
Especially if I knew what I now know
No, I think from that pathway I’d refrain.

It would be a much different pathway I’d follow,
For I’d know all the pitfalls to elude,
Perhaps I’d become a property investor
Or a share trader might be the pathway pursued.

For a good education I’d go off to Uni’
To study hard and make a success of my life,
I’d steer clear of all the backbreaking work
But I’d still take my wife as my wife.

Of course if I did have my life to live over
And the pathway to success I wished to climb,
I dare say that I’d do the same things again
For you do what you think is right at the time.

But then I think, what if I had won Tatts-lotto
Say back about twenty-five years ago,
Perhaps I wouldn’t be in a wheelchair today
And maybe a different pathway I’d hoe.

But then I think of all my many blessings,
My keen memory to me is number one,
Also to have a very broad sense of humour,
So I think my battle is more than half won?

The very fact that I have a large loving family
Who all help ease the pressures of life?
Yes every day I count all my blessings,
Number one being my wonderful wife.

Lindsay,

What if ... What if any thing in your life was different and we didn't have you among us.  What a loss that would be. You so often bring a smile to my face and I love the love that you share with us for family, life and laughter.

I don't talk about blessings often, but, Lindsay, you are a blessing in my life.  What if - What if's are hard for me to comprehend.  I think if there was one small change, I would not be the person that I am today.

I think your poetry is marvelous.  Thank you for sharing.

With love,
Alison

I think all of us here at PIP count your friendship as one of our blessings, LP.
Lovely thoughts here.

Yo LindsayP,

There you go, it never does any good to complain, there's no money in it.

The love of your family makes you a rich man.
Indulge in your wealth.

The answer is always NO, Until the question is asked.

Because I have a friend in the same situation as you
What if I send this on to her, so she
knows how well you do!?

Enjoyed your reflections, dear Lindsay. Every now and then we all ask "what if?" and it is good when the conclusions bring gratitude for what life has gifted us with. What really counts is "have I loved enough?" ... and I bet you have.

Love and joy.

LindsayP,

I thought about 'What If', and it's amazing how one thinks about how things might have been but for one small change. Interesting writing, liked it much...

My dear friend, you and Norma deserve each other! ~ I love and admire you both!

I too, have wondered about such things. However, like yourself, if I had travelled a different road, I would not have the blessings that I do have today! All is as it is meant to be!
