state of confusion

Sixty years softens a landscape.
Nothing much remains to remind us –
no rocketing lumps of flesh and steel,
no red and gray sky.
Explosions like that,
everyone and everything is gone;
absence identifies.

If anything lingers,
it's the ghosts,
caught forever beneath the tides,
in ships, on piers where they last stood.
Screams ringing.

Now, at the surface, all is pristine:
a lovely bay-front memorial erected,
encircled by tidy concrete cobblestones.
Palms whisper: hush.

From here, the sky is clear and surreal
against blacked broken spines.

Corinne~
It is SO good to see you~

You took a poignant piece of history, and word-worked it to a tender tribute~
Lovely, my dear friend~

The link was a fascinating read~

One of my favorite poets, and this is why...

It's wonderful to read you again, Corinne.

I hope you're doing well, lovie.

(and yes, I loved this, but cities are people to me, too. )

Rarely do you appear on these pages, but when you do, you gift us with stunning word art.

Yo Corinne,

This is an excellent rendering about a great tragedy.
