Rollin' In the Old Pickup Truck (High Surf Advisory) Packed up my surfboard in my rusty old truck, the North Shore was rumbling so I thought I'd try my luck. A storm was brewing as I paddled from the shore, my old truck waited nervously as the waves stirred up more. I caught a big one and as it rolled into shore it tossed me and turned me to show me the score. It tossed me to shore and it was just my luck, I landed flat in the bed of my old pickup truck. What a great way to convey the fact that we all share a strange friendship with our automobiles! Fun read! |

I dont know how true this is but I was once told "Don't let the facts spoil a good story." Good poem, well done. Do not go gentle into that good night. |

A high five on the low side for both the chuckles and the admiration for waves and trucks alike. Well told. |

I enjoyed every little bit of this! How sweet of your old pick up truck to catch you in his arms. Thank you for the pleasure of reading it. I used to have a Volkswagen Variant called Vernon. People would tell me that English cars are female. I would ask them how would Volkswagen Beetles be born if there were only bigger female Volkswagens. My current car, Gretta, a Volkswagen Jetta, is not so named because Gretta rhymes with Jetta. I didn't realise it until a few days later. I called her Gretta because there were 2 egrets near her on the grass where I first saw her. I thought Egret - Gret - Gretta. I named her the moment I saw her. My son said that I should wait a while, but I knew that she was Gretta. We get on famously. She goes almost without petrol (gas) and because I struggle to maintain her, she holds her breath and does her best. She has a heart of gold and when she sees a hill, she says, "Oooh Mommy there's a hill!" and goes zooming up it like a youngster in spite of the fact that she is actually 22 years old! - Owl [This message has been edited by OwlSA (09-07-2008 07:55 PM).] |

James, You have me smiling with this one. It seems to be a departure from your usual style, and I like the light heartedness of it. A |
