The days go on
and these flights of fancy
rise and fall too fast
too numerous to count

these mysterious words
from the great unknown
behind masked screens
by fingers unseen

the last drip of sap
sinking to suckle
promise of a new lover
disappears into the mist

without a word
to their material cause
the cryptic fades
and is replaced

by another...

I like your choice of title for this poem ~ "The Illusionist". It is very apt, indeed!

I too, have had my own "flights of fantasy"! Some of them have been good

~ however, there have been others that have not been so good!
